Created attachment 131790 [details] test file showing 4 pictures on 3 pages using just some bigger graphics on following pages - like 4.8Mb png, 6.5Mb png, 1.7MB png and 339kb png does make problems when scrolling to those pictures up and down and 2 pages parallel shown. I see this on a Win7 64bit system on a business laptop from Fujitsu-Siemens E8420. Using just some jpg pictures (4MB) from a Panasonic digital camera in the same way on following pages of a writer document the same happens. The text cannot be edited then because of the blinking of the pictures which wont stop then. There is shown "Lesefehler" when a picture tries loading. This happens to all pictures. Sometimes all of the pictures show up at least - sometimes not. Its not possible working with the text any longer. The pictures must me made smaller. Thats not nice at all. May be LO should use smaller pictures in memory and not try to load the big ones instead every time.

just put the 4 pictures in folder "Bilder" and then open the odt test file for showing. You can also put 4 normal jpg files from a digital camera into the folder and set the links to those. I was getting much trouble doing so with 4 jpg files near 5MB each. It was not possible using LO with this troublefree. It hung up, pictures were blinking. I was not able using LO this way with standard jpg pictures without converting them to much smaller size which I do not want to do in this case because then when using much zoom in the pdf the quality is reduced. I hope there will be a solution for that.
Hello Matthias, Thank you for reporting the bug. it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
Hello Xisco, I deinstalled the 5.1.6.2 and installed the newer one 5.2.6.2. The test file seems to work much better with this. I also tested with 3 jpg. No hang as before - but still it takes quite an amount of time loading the pictures. It seems to be that LO each time loads the full picture and not a smaller place holder instead of it. I just do not know if this is intended to perform this way or if it may be an improvement using smaller placeholders instead which also may be stored in the odt file.
