Description: How can I add chapter, so my Writer restarts numbering footnotes at the beginning of each chapter? I am writing my BA Thesis and it is a rule in Poland for my footnotes to start numbering from 1 in every chapter. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Write several chapters 2. Add footnotes 3. Try to number them from 1 in every chapter Actual Results: The footnotes are numbering constantly without per chapter reset. Expected Results: The footnotes starts numbering from 1 for each chapter. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I think there should be an option to specify where the chapter starts or to set on which pages counting of footnotes resets. Hello, I don't want to reset page numbering, but I want to reset footnotes numbering.
Created attachment 132109 [details] Windows where you can set footnotes numbering per chapter
This is the only solution: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/5415/restarting-footnote-numbers-for-each-chapter/ (a) Highlight your "Chapter 1" (b) Format ---> Paragraph ---> "Outline & Numbering" (c) Set "Outline level" to read "Level 1." (d) Repeat (a)-(c) for each additional chapter. (e) Tools ---> Footnotes/Endnotes and set "Counting" to "Per Chapter" You cannot mark beginning of each chapter in a different way. That "Per chapter" option misleads users, it should be "Per outline level 1" as there is no such thing as "chapter" in Writer.
