Description Peter 2017-04-19 15:03:22 UTC
Description:
when scrolling with touch pad the horizontal scroll bar moves to the opposite side (while the vertical scroll bar moves fine)
This is not dependant of RTL or LTR documents (like reported earlier) and LO behaves opposite to all other applications installed (e.g. Firefox).

Actual Results:
Moving finger to the right moves scroll bar to the left

Expected Results:
Moving finger on the touch pad to the right should move scroll bar to the right
(as moving finger up moves scrollbar up
and as moving finger to the right in any other application moves scroll bar to the right)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Comment 2 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2017-04-19 16:15:26 UTC
Not reproducible for me with LO 5.3.4.0.0+ built at home under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64

Best regards. JBF
Comment 3 Peter 2017-04-19 16:27:51 UTC
to be more precise:
works correct with mouse when holding middle button to scroll

but works not correct on touchpad with scroll areas defined at the borders neither with two finger scroll gesture
Comment 4 Dieter 2017-05-25 04:34:42 UTC
I also can't reproduce it in writer or in calc, using LO 5.3.3 and Win10 x64.
Comment 5 Peter 2017-08-02 21:14:51 UTC
Updated to 5.3.4.2 and still have this issue (and still only with libre office)
Comment 6 Chavdar 2017-10-16 17:23:55 UTC
Reproduced in Calc and Writer, LO 5.3.6.1, Win 10 x64

Lenovo ThinkPad w500. It has special touchpad with horizontal and vertical scrolling areas. Horizontal is not ok, vertical works fine.

Not reproduced Calc and Writer, LO 5.3.6.1, Win 10 x64

Lenovo G50-45 with simple touchpad using two fingers, scrolling works fine.

I didn't have this problem until updating to LO 6.3. Now the scrolling is messed up in horizontal direction. Running on Linux, both Flatpak and PPA builds affected.

System info:
Ubuntu 18.04 64bit (two systems, vanilla Ubuntu and elementary OS Juno)
Touchpad with horizontal scrolling & natural scrolling enabled on both systems.

Never had this problem either, but now with 6.0.3, the horizontal scroll direction opposite of what it should be. Vertical scroll behaves as expected.

Mac OS X Mojave, Natural Scroll direction enabled.

This bug appeared on MacOS Mojave with libreoffice version 6.3.0 and now is also in version 6.2.7. VERY frustrating!

I can confirm that, at least in Calc (haven't tried it elsewhere), this is happening to me in 6.4.4. I hope the following information helps nail this bug down: I'm running Windows 10 x64 version 2004. It is NOT happening with two finger scroll -- just one finger scrolling at the edge of the touchpad. It's a Synaptics touchpad and the driver version is 19.4.3.38. I've checked in the touchpad software's scrolling practice and the horizontal scrolling goes in the direction I expect it to so this isn't a case of settings being incorrect.

Using MacOS Mojave, running LO 7.3.4.

All seems good at this point. LO behaves as every other app I have.

With the Scrolling Direction set to "Natural" the page movement is in the same direction as scrolling. This necessitates that the scroll bar moves in the opposite direction, i.e. scroll up and the bar moves down. To do otherwise would be wrong since the scroll bar indicates the position of the current view in relation the entire page. Scroll bar at the top means page at the top.

I must have been mistaken when I confirmed the bug as in my opinion it is not a bug. I don't understand how the original reporter could have said that the vertical scroll bar moved with the scrolling. In my opinion that would indicate a bug in the vertical direction display.

I recommend closing the bug as "not a bug" providing it is also good on Windows & Linux.

Dear Peter,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
