Description Fokke Meima 2017-04-21 08:55:09 UTC
Files created in MS Word (*.doc or *.docx) and containing Tables and/or URL links (email addresses) cannot be opened successfully.
Content of the tables disappears almost fully in *.doc format. In both *doc and *.docx format, formatted email addresses disappear on opening the document.

Hi Fokke,

For the hyperlink bug: it may be the same as Bug 107111 - FILESAVE: hyperlink text disappears after opening&saving specific DOCX (with some index/TOC before the link) ?

Short file illustrating hyperlink-email address that is lost on opening file

I have indicated in this very short file where the missing hyperlink is to be found.
Interesting enough, het same problem occurs when the file is opened in a recently installed Office 2016 version.

In reply to Cor Nouws:
That is indeed a possibility.
The Original file (most of its content was confidential and therefore removed) indeed had a table of content.
This file was edited on some occasions in LibreOffice (mostly version 5.2) and in MS Word 2007. There are therefore several possibilities: errors in handling hyperlinks by the editing software or error in opening the document.
I noticed, by the way, that the simple command "File - Open" is also not working.
Anyway, I will keep an eye on the handling of hyperlinks and on the file-opening command. Thanks.

Even in MSO 2010 the email is not displayed.
Please provide a file that can be used to reproduce the problem.

I have already provided attachment 132731 [details], which is the file we are talking about without the confidential information that was contained in it.
I have not had other experiences with the same problem.
We might also conclude that, if this is an incidental issue, it need not be further explored.

comparison MSO 2010 and LibreOffice 5.4

Could you please explain me where the problem is ? I see MSO 2010 and LibreOffice 5.4 rendering your attachment equally.
Comment 8 Fokke Meima 2017-04-25 14:11:10 UTC
I noticed that some "email addresses" were not visible in LibreOffice, whilst they were perfectly visible in MS Word 2007.
I therefore assumed there might be a bug in LibreOffice. However, I discovered later that MS Word 2016 displays the same problem.
I cannot exclude therefore that the bug is in the document (edited in the past both in LibreOffice and in Word 2007) and not in LibreOffice itself.
Since it seems to occur under very specific circumstances and in only one file so far, we might as well decide not to examne it further.
