Description mhonline 2017-05-01 00:10:51 UTC
Although fileformat for Base is rather outdated (ODF 1.0), everything worked fine until 5.3-versions. HSQL-files aswell as Firebird-ODB I can not change design, fields-properies are greyed out. Nasty for example, when you need to change a Fieldlength or a field to autoincrement ( sic: ID).

Have tested with
Version: 5.3.2.2
Build-ID: 6cd4f1ef626f15116896b1d8e1398b56da0d0ee1
CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.1; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: kde4; Layout-Engine: neu;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group
On OpenSUSE 42.1 64bit rpm Linux.

Could edit the table design (changed, for example, length of a varchar-field). So I could not confirm the buggy behavior.

Please add an example, which could show the buggy behavior.

in here:
LO 5.3.2.2 portable on Win10 Home/64 with JAVA 8-111 in the appropriate dir. for portable apps (commonfiles/java), however, in the taskmanagere it looks as JAVA is not coming up/started.

Question:
in Options, the extended settings read:
org.openoffic.office.com/Java/Applet/enable/false

could that be related?

Couldn't test this because I haven't Windows and portable LO.

When Java wouldn't work you can't connect to tables - but this seems to be another problem.
Have a look here:

just gave it a try with LO 524 under Win XP, and all works fine.
Just did a new try with LO 532 under Win10 + updated Java (8-131): LO crash

@mhonline : surely this is an issue with whoever provides the "portable" version of LibreOffice ?

https://portableapps.com/apps/office/libreoffice_portable/

seems to be the place to turn to for reporting issues.

I assume that you are also following the recommendation here:

https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable

and using their Java implementation ?

I would be inclined to mark this as NOTOURBUG.
Comment 7 Alex Thurgood 2017-05-03 07:46:25 UTC
@mhonline : I also take it that you are using a complete JDK and not just a JRE ?
Comment 8 mhonline 2017-05-03 11:42:10 UTC
might be, that it is a java-problem, but in original Win10 for example the table-edit-dialog is coming, although even that is java-related.
in both scenarios (Win10/LO port) and in the virtual machine (XP/LO port) the same runtime-version from portable apps is installed (now jportable v.8-131 32-Bit)

I gave it a try with full deletion of profil, and it looks that this helps, tables can be edited.
(profile for the portable version is the whole content of the directory LibreOfficePortable\Data,
which will be rebuild on new starting LO)

pls put same useful information on the wiki-page and set this issue to "resolved"
