Description Clayton 2017-06-02 15:37:58 UTC
Description:
There is only one delete button on a Mac keyboard (rather than backspace and delete) so there is no option to bypass the "delete contents" dialog in a spreadsheet.

I suggest there be a keyboard shortcut available, such as "SHIFT + delete"

Thanks!

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a spreadsheet on a Mac
2. Hit delete button within a cell

Actual Results:
Dialog appears

Expected Results:
Contents are deleted without a dialog appearing.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Wasn't able to select confirm but I did confirm this. One can still delete by entering through the dialog contents box, however there is no way to delete cell contents with just one key.

Ok, so Mac delete apparently acts like Backspace.

For now, you should be able to use Tools - Customize - Keyboard, Functions: Edit and map Function: Clear contents to a shortcut of your choice (using Modify after selecting the desired shortcut).

Fn+Delete does this by default. On a full-size keyboard, that would be the Forward Delete key (⌦).
