Description: Wanting to add a hyperlink to an audio file (.wav or .mp3) in Calc (and writer). If the link is a TEXT type then exercising the link spawns the preferred sound app for the extension type and the sound plays. All good. If the same files are linked using a BUTTON link then exercising the link results in: a) for .wav files: some internal LO process runs and plays the file with no visible controls and continues to play after LO is closed(!); and b) for .mp3 files: LO crashes (Win 10 32bit) or opens the file as a text file (Linux - openSUSE 64bit). I think the behaviours need to be consistent and that the TEXT link behaviour is to be preferred. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create calc or writer document 2. Insert 2 links to a .way file, one as text and one as button. 3. Insert 2 links to a .mp3 file, one as text and one as button. 4. Save file and close. 5. Re-open document and exercise the links. Actual Results: TEXT links work as expected spawning the preferred audio app to play the file. Button links do not work as expected. If the file is .wav then some internal LO SW plays the file. If the file is .mp3 & OS=WIN10 (32bit) then LO crashes and exits If the file is .mp3 & OS=openSUSE (64bit) then LO displays the file as a text file. Expected Results: BUTTON links should operate in the same way as TEXT links do. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Tested on an old 32 bit nettop (Atom N270) running WIN10 and on an i3 desktop running 64 bit openSUSE both running LO 5.3 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0
If the file is .mp3 then LO displays the file as a text file. I can confirm with LO 3.5 and Version: 5.5.0.0.alpha0+, Linux
** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. Retried as requested in LO 7.0.2 In general the same behaviour applies, text hyperlinks open the preferred app to play the media, button hyperlinks don't. Minor changes: A button hyperlink to an mp3 file now reports a corrupted file rather than opening it as a text file. This occurs on both Linux (openSuse15.1 64 bit) and Windows 10 (2004 32 bit). One discovered fun behaviour concerns button hyperlinks to wav files on at least LO 7.0.2 and 6.2. Button hyperlink opens internal LO player as recorded previously. If you hit the spacebar while the file is playing for each press of the spacebar it starts another play stream of the same file.
