A screenshot of the container big (left) small file (right)

Hello!
I created a calculation for pressure losses in tubes.
I had to send it via mail and some pics were embedded.
The file had a size of 5 MB - to reduce file size I deleted
the pictures - and the size was 4.7 MB-a simple calc document!

To overcome problem I found a solution:
save it as "...xlsx" and convert back to "...ods".
The ods-file shrunk from 4.745025 MB to 0.139921 MB.

OK how did I see that's the font files?
I renamed .ods to .zip. - All LO-files are zip-containers
Then I searched for the largest files - and a horrible amount of
"ttf" fonts were in the container in the directory "fonts".

After conversion the fonts vanished.

I'll attach screenshots. I do not know if it makes sense to attach old (5MB) and new ods. I can deliver it by PN.

Kind regards Hermann

That is unusual. Please generate a small document from scratch, which shows this problem. Write a step-by-step description how to generate it and attach the document to the issue.

At least attach the original document, if possible reduced by deleting some sheets.
Comment 4 Hermann Rochholz 2017-06-21 11:48:37 UTC
OK- Hmm. What can I say to "unusual"?

I explained that the problem is the nearly infinite number of fonts- screenshot already attached.
Furtermore I explained that I tried to reduce the document but I did not have success. The only way was the workaround causing belly ache.

Exactly the problem (bug?) is that I do not know how to reduce the document.
I generated this document from scratch.

----------
OK- I detected that the document grew continuously.
I attach now an older version with only (!) 2.3 MB and only ~ 8 ttf-font files.
It's one tab. I threw out the only diagram: reduction of 5k...

Steps to reproduce:
----------
make a copy and rename that to "zip"
go into it
check out the directory "fonts"
------
save original as xlsx
open xlsx with LO Calc
save as ods
-------
and fonts have been vanished (when checked after renaming to ".zip".

OK, I have found the setting. Go to menu File > Properties > tab "Font". Clear the item "Embed fonts in the document".

It is "unusual" because this setting is unchecked as default.

Thank you.
I never touched this option.

BTW: There is another
"fonts" menue unter
"options" -> "Libreoffice" -> "Fonts"
There was no way to change something.
Therefore I thought there is no way to get rid of the fonts.

Is it possible because I work partially under
Linux (Lubuntu LTS) and partially under Windows?
Comment 8 Regina Henschel 2017-06-21 23:16:00 UTC
"Fixed" is only for a bug fix, where a source code commit with reference number exists.

Test it. Temporarily rename your user profile folder, so that a new one is generated, which has only default settings. Generate a new Calc document and look, whether this setting is enabled. I don't know whether the Linux distributor has changed the default.
