Created attachment 134609 [details] Screenshot See attached file/screenshot. The data table has only four dates, but the chart somehow fills the gap between the dates and inserts more entries.

This broke somewhere between 3.3.4 (good) and 3.4.0 (bad). 3.3.4 can't read date values in the data table, it displays empty strings. When entering date values it probably treats them as strings too, which might explain the difference.
Probably introduced by this changes: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/?id=f329f09bb7a24c357cf1608c4b00c978892dc0bb&qt=grep&q=i25706
The same can be seen in Calc, with a simple dataset. When the cells are formatted as dates, the bug appears. When they are formatted as text, the bug doesn't appear.

Created attachment 134614 [details] same chart with text axis Showing that this is a feature and not a bug.

Select the chart 2. Select "X Axis" from the "Chart element" dropdown in the toolbar 3. Click the "Format selection" button 4. Set "Type" to "Text" instead "Automatic".
