Thank you for reporting the bug. it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
Same behavior in version 5.3.4.2 and 5.2.7.2
To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your Libreoffice profile ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile ) and re-test? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present
Now tested in Safe Mode of version 5.4.0.3 with resetted user profile. Overlay still there. Mostly now first newly typed character appears bolder when typed as described. Behavior disappears when more characters are typed in the same active cell.
I can not confirm with LO5.4, win7. Please post a printscreen. Component is Calc, but autofill is writer's feature.
Created attachment 135696 [details] Black overlay One of the two overlays observed. Notice: this does not happen in the first 4 columns
Created attachment 135697 [details] Text overlay Text overlay that, too, does not happen in the first 4 columns.
Created attachment 135716 [details] Black overlay
Created attachment 135717 [details] Text overlay Updated both screenshots because they were poorly sized.
