Description: I just tried the new notebookbar. I had previously toggled formatting marks on, and wanted to turn them off again. I had a hard time finding the placement of this setting. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the 'View' tab 2. Look for 'Toggle formatting marks' Actual Results: The setting is not there (it's on the home bar). Expected Results: Under 'View' I expected a section to control visibility of different things, including formatting marks. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0
It comes to us from the Standard toolbar--most of the Home items do. Don't think there is much need to move it to the View tab--although I understand the confusion.
We have different incarnations of the Notebookbar, which one is it where you miss the formatting marks? In case of Contextual Groups it has been done intentionally. The goal was to create a very clean Notebookbar with only basic function. Access to formatting marks would be in the View menu or toggled with the shortcut ctrl+F10.
> We have different incarnations of the Notebookbar, which one is it where you miss the formatting marks? This is for the tabbed layout. I didn't realize there were others until now. > It comes to us from the Standard toolbar--most of the Home items do. On my version of Libreoffice (Build ID: 5.3.4.2-6.fc26), `[ ] Formatting marks` is in the View drop-down menu. That's probably why I expected it in the View tab.
@Jay, the tabbed variant is yours. Either fix the issue or close this ticket.
With the usage of the button, i wouldnt move it from its current location to the View tab and ideally we shouldnt place it in more than one place, but if there is a good argument why it should be in both places, i'd be open to hear it. Some confusion may arise if a user expects the View tab to have everything in the View menu, which i doubt it will, but users used to the MS Ribbon wont get confused.
Setting to NEEDINFO so Stephen or others can provide a reasonable reason why it should be moved other than it being in the View menu.
