Description ing.raduluca 2017-08-17 08:34:10 UTC
Hi,

I recently updated my office computers (4 workstations and 2 laptops) to LO 5.4.0.3. Before the update we used 5.1.6 on most of them and 5.2.6.2 on the laptops.
After the update the interface became really laggy in both writer and calc.
The lag was the most visible when scrolling (even files with 2 pages lagged) but it seemed to affect the toolbars also, as they had a delay in popping up when they were clicked or howered over.
Disabling the auto-correct feature seemed to help a little bit, but the lag was still there and really anoying. I even tried messing around with OPEN GL/CL (tried all the combinations possible) but it didn't help at all.

I downgraded all of them to 5.2.6.2 and it works perfecly.

We use windows 10 with the latest updates; the workstations are HP Zseries with Xenon processors and nVIDIA Quadro video cards (FX1800 and 4000) with the latest nvidia drivers; the laptops are ASUS ROG Series with i7 procs and nVIDIA GTX765M/970M video cards, with the latest video drivers installed.

Thanks,

I tried to reset my user profile and can confirm it's a bug, even trying to disabling OpenGL and enabling HW acceleration the issue persists in any case of these.

I'd like to add that's not only lag and stuttering but there's also very annoying and frustrating flashing of parts of the UI; for example Math it's practically not usable at all, since the left pane/panel keeps flashing and re-building every time I hover the cursor on the above-mentioned pane.

Most of the lag will probably be resolved with the upcoming builds:
LibreOffice 5.3.7 or 5.4.3

There is a pre-release of 5.3.7 available here;
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/win/x86_64/

The Math Formula editor issue isn't resolved yet: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/showdependencytree.cgi?id=112889&hide_resolved=1

This seems like a bunch of bugs reported already.
It's already advised to use 5.3.7.2 or 5.4.3.2.
Please confirm after that and check for existing bugs.
