Description jeremy 2017-09-14 10:45:27 UTC
Description:
Compared to other applications, LibreOffice renders fonts too big. This has been a problem for a long time. I've seen some other threads about it but they always end with someone denying that this is a problem. Still, check this screenshot

https://imgur.com/a/OCSwl

I have not changed any scaling in Preferences and it's a fresh install of the latest LibreOffice.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just open LibreOffice on MacOSX. I'm using Macbook Air on OSX 10.12.6
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The fonts render too large / the spreadsheet is too large. Makes documents created in Excel look weird.

Expected Results:
That the font size is the same as in other applications.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Completely new intall. LibreOffice has not been installed before.

Additional Info:
I have tried this on multiple Macs with the same result. The Windows and Linux versions are fine, it's just in MacOSX.

LibreOffice on MacOSX compared to other applications.
Comment 2 Alex Thurgood 2017-09-14 13:58:29 UTC
No repro with

Version: 5.4.0.3
Build ID: 7556cbc6811c9d992f4064ab9287069087d7f62c
CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.12.6; UI render: default;
Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); Calc: group

see enclosed screenshot.

In fact, in the above version, the text appears smaller than in Excel, for same document magnification (100%), and smaller than in TextEdit.

@Jeremy : please give detailed instructions on how to reproduce what you are experiencing, as currently I can't reproduce the behaviour you describe.
Comment 6 jeremy 2017-09-18 07:56:40 UTC
Sorry, don't know how to reproduce. I just started LibreOffice, and then it was like that. The problem is not entirely the same now though, but it still exists. There a smaller difference in size now, to the better, but still quite different. I removed my user profile just to be sure, and the took this screen shot.
