Description Andreas Säger 2017-10-07 21:16:00 UTC
Open the Word label file
https://www.uline.com/LabelTemplates/S-5046.doc from https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-5046/Laser-Labels/Circle-Laser-Labels-White-2-1-2

It consists of one table with 12 cells and 12 circle shapes indicating the round labels. LibreOffice does not display any shapes like OpenOffice does.
Comment 1 Aron Budea 2017-10-07 23:36:21 UTC
Confirmed with LO 5.4.2.2 & 3.5.0 / Windows 7.
Not reproducible with 3.3.0.
=> regression, not bibisectable

Actually, needs to check with oldest commit in bibisect-43all, if already buggy, and need to add preBibisect keyword if it is.
Comment 7 Aron Budea 2019-06-04 21:32:35 UTC
Already in oldest of bibisect-43all.
Note that a difference between Writer and Word is that even in versions <3.5 and in AOO, Writer only displays the circles if formatting marks are set to be displayed.

and yes, it's a regression as already confirmed 4 years ago.
Comment 10 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2021-06-15 05:09:22 UTC
Reproduced by opening attachment 137884 [details] in LO 7.2 Alpha1:

Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha1+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: bb54d6d8241a06a6772052b77b67d6a4f686426c

I note that the navigator sidebar doesn't show anything other than the table.

No, that is not the reason. The shape is an ordinary VML circle. LibreOffice has no problem with it.

For the example file "112984_min.doc" I see these: The import anchors the shape to character and this character is hidden. That makes the shape go to layer "InvisibleHeaven". You can see the shape in the Development Tools.

Go to Format > Character > tab Font Effects. Uncheck option "hidden". The circle becomes visible. Albeit it has a wrong position.

For the document "Word label file" the character the circles are anchored to is not inside the table but after the table. Set cursor there and then call Format > Character > Font Effects. Uncheck the option "Hidden" and the circles become visible.
Comment 14 Andreas Säger 2025-05-29 09:59:02 UTC
With a recent version of LO I can see the shapes regardless of the anchor's hidden status.
