Created attachment 137068 [details] Case 1. While the project document is active. Preliminary note : GNOME Tweak Tool’s Global Dark Theme is currently active as background on both Linux, Fedora 26 and Centos 7.4.1708, on Writer respectively as v. 5.3.6.1 and older version. The text document affected by the issue is the project document and is titled Linux_opas.odt (left-sided document), the new text document is titled Untitled.odt (right-sided document). Strangely the interface appearance of the active text document affects as well others non active and opened text documents simultaneously. - Case 1: While the project document is active, its own Styles’ list’s characters are black; Because Dark Theme is also active, list’s characters cannot be perceived and as a result a style cannot be selected on purpose. - Case 2: While the new document is active, its own Styles’ list’s characters are white; Because Dark Theme is also active, list’s characters can be perceived and as a result a style can be selected on purpose. Sample of the project document file will be provided on request from the Canonical maintenance team.

Is Global Dark Theme the same as Adwaita Dark? Because I cannot reproduce the problem on Arch Linux with GNOME 3 and that theme, LibreOffice 5.4.2.2 Is the problem dependent on Linux_opas.odt and does not appear with new documents? If so, you must attach it to this report. Set to NEEDINFO. Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the document/information.
The expression "Adwaita Dark" was till now unknown to me. The dark theme used from gnome-tweak-tool 3.24.1-2.fc26 package is the only one activated manually on my system. Document affected by that issue is the one provided in report 112825 in the attachment 136723 [details]. In case one of the Canonical's principle is to allow on purpose duplicates as sample material in its database related to issue reports, so a duplicate of attachment 136723 [details] will be duly provided as expected; Just let me know.
Seems to be the same as bug 104799 (not a bug): change the default style's font color to Automatic. To see the change, switch the sidebar deck to something else and then back to Styles. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 104799 ***
