Description: When I set the cursor to the start of an enumeration line and move it once to the left by pressing the left-arrow key, the cursor jumps into the enumeration icon instead of to the last glyph of the line above. Altering the enumeration icon really isn’t used often, so I’d like to request changing that behaviour accordingly. Jumping into that icon could be achieved by maybe "Shift + Left" or "Alt + Left", or clicking there with the mouse. Steps to Reproduce: . Actual Results: . Expected Results: . Created attachment 137340 [details] Screencast I don’t think I need to upload a file – instead I created a screen cast for you. :)
O.K. Now I understand your suggestion. But I'm not sure if this really would be an enhancement. So I set the status to NEW and added the keyword needsUXEval
Supporting the idea. While detectability of the alt+shift interaction is low (and this shortcut is likely used somewhere else), it's actually not needed anyway since backspace deletes the bullet and there is no other interaction possible that requires the cursor at this position. Furthermore, the behavior in Impress is as requested here and we should aim for consistency.
Having the keyboard be able to select the enumeration could be very important for accessibility reasons. It does serve the function of being able to set properties for the numbering list itself - like size, colour etc. Ctrl+ already has a global meaning - jump to the next word. (So this is already a alternative for OP, as that already skips the numbering by definition.) [By global I mean at an OS level - not even specific to LibreOffice.] Shift+ already has a global meaning - select. So this is not an option. I don't know if Alt+ already has any meaning - it doesn't seem to do anything special when I try it. However, it seems a bit fake to me to "invent" a meaning for a very specific situation. How would anyone discover that? I'd call this WONTFIX - given that it is an accessibility concern and a globally meaningful use of CTRL+ already skips over non-word stuff.
