Description Mike 2017-11-06 06:44:15 UTC
Description:
Issue: If you open the attached PPTX, Impress shows a text box behind a PNG, that has transparency. Other programs show only the PNG.

The slide of this file is derived from a PPTX that was created by Powerpoint 2004 for Mac (according to the properties of the original file). I edited that presentation with Softmaker Presentations and deleted the unnecessary stuff.

The text behind the PNG is in ‚Arial Narrow‘. The text in the PNG has a different type.

The text in the box is not the same as in the PNG. ‚y(1)q‘ and ‚x(2)p‘ are missing in the text of the box. Impress renders in the original presentation only slides wrong, that contain mathematical expressions.

M$ Productivity Tool shows no violation against OOXML 2007.

Issue does not come up in LO 4.0 and earlier.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open file

Actual Results:
There is a textbox behind a PNG with text and transparency

Expected Results:
There should be not textbox.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

It is generated because there are formulas combined with text. LibreOffice is not able to have formulas inside other shapes. Therefore there is a bitmap, which shows the original content and a shape, which has editable text. You can decide, which you will keep.

If you generated such slide from scratch in Impress, how would you combine the formulas with the text? Perhaps something different can be used intermediately till the missing feature is implemented.

The feature request for formulas combined with text is in bug 35033.

Set to NEEDINFO.
Mike: Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the information.

Hello Buovjaga :-)

I did not create the original presentation myself. The original file was already uploaded by me for the issue
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113673
It's the attached file
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=137556
(I also made a minimum test case for that and you confirmed that issue. Thank you!)
There is no pressure (at least by me!) for immeadiatly fixing this issue.
As you both confirmed the issue and Rita posted a good explaination for it, I allow myself to set the report from NEEDINFO to NEW.

I hope, you don't mind.

Best regards,

Mike

Ok, but you did not have any proposal on how to handle it different from bug 35033, so I will close as duplicate.
