Description Denis 2017-11-17 13:55:14 UTC
What is observed: when trying to run Writer, it shows splash screen for a split second and then exits without any error messages.

Personally I observed this bug in Manjaro with the kernels 4.9 to 4.13 (I haven't tried earlier or more recent kernels). The only one that isn't affected by this bug is 4.10.

The bug is observed at least in Manjaro and Ubuntu (I haven't tried Ubuntu, but this thread https://askubuntu.com/questions/927859/libreoffice-writer-crashes-on-start suggests so).

In Manjaro it is observed on both my desktop and netbook with very different hardware. Again, I'm not the only one affected, judging by this thread: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/libreoffice-writer-fail-after-system-upgrade-solved/26623/25

Both threads are marked as solved because turning off JRE in Tools -> Options -> Advanced makes Writer work with these kernels, but I thought I should report it, because it can't be called normal behaviour. Besides, someone might need JRE to be turned on.
