Description thelaughingbear 2017-12-18 15:25:29 UTC
Description:
I am using : Version: 5.1.6.2 Build ID: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial2
installed on Linux Mint 18.1 cin.

I think I have been pretty well through all the options of making the spellcheck work, but no luck.
Pressing F7 results in "documents checked" without id mistakes.

Tools/ Spelling Grammar/ Options - every thing appropriate is checked

However the drop down menue in Spelling and Grammar "text language" shows "none" and can not be changed. When cklicked on it it shows a check mark mark besides US English.

Tools/Options/ Language settings/ Language is set to Default English Canada

tools/Options/ Language settings / writing aids all apropriate boxes are checked

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open office writer
2.start new document
3.start typing with mistakes

Actual Results:
if auto check is enabled it show show now, but it does not
Hit F7 alternatively and note that spell problems are not detected.

Expected Results:
spellcheck should ID spell problems

Reproducible: Always

5.1.X, 5.2.X are EOL and 5.3.X will be soon.
Could you give a try to a recent LO version (5.4.3 or at least 5.4.2)?
For Ubuntu, there's LO ppa, I don't know about Mint.

Do you have the Hunspell dictionary installed? https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/hunspell-en-ca
