5.4.4 is out. try upgrading to the latest version.

The document can not be made public. However the same error message can be generated by attending to create an alphabetical index in a blank document. Having said all that, upgrading to 5.4.4.2 as suggested by tommy27 has corrected the problem. Than you all for your assistance.
