Description adaw2 2018-01-16 20:21:11 UTC
Description:
I routinely switch between three languages while typing (English and two dead languages). The problem is that I need a specific font for each of the dead languages. Currently that means every time I switch to one of the dead languages and finish typing in that language, I have to stop, highlight the portion of the text I just typed, and manually change the font. This slows me down a lot.

I would like for LibreOffice to either automatically learn that I always use font B for language (keyboard layout) Y, or for there to be an option to assign default fonts to portions of the UNICODE character table (i.e. different default fonts for each language that has a unique alphabet in the UNICODE tables).

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Type in keyboard layout A, font X
2.Type in keyboard layout B

Actual Results:
font X

Expected Results:
font Y

Reproducible: Always

I think that the problem is not in LibreOffice but in your workflow. You should create 2 additional paragraph styles, one for each additional language, for example "Default Style language A" and "Default Style language B", each inheriting from "Default Style" and changing only the language in the font tab. Then you can attach a shortcut to each new paragraph style, allowing you to easily switch from a style to another.

Please try that and give us your feedback.

Set status to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested
informations are provided.

Sorry, should read: "changing only the font and the language in the font tab".

In reply to JBF: I use all three langauges within the same paragraph so I don't think your suggestion would work for me.

So do the same with character styles so you will able to mix several languages and fonts in the same paragraph.

Please try. Set status to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested informations are provided.
