Description: windows 10 Pro version 1709 OS build 16299.214. After installation of most recent version of Libreoffice. I had some spreadsheets to create using ".txt" files. But when I used the "right clicked menu" and choosing Open with option came up with the first 2 options saying only "Libreoffice" with the icons for Calc or Writer missing. Selecting either one defaults to opening writer. from where I "select all", then "New Spreadsheet" and "unformatted" to get the data into the spreadsheet. Is this the new implementation of those menu options? How do I get the icons back on the "Open with" menu? Steps to Reproduce: 1.create a .txt from financial data web site. 2.right click on the .txt file 3.Choose Open with option and the little menu that comes up should show the icon less entries from LibreOffice. Actual Results: either entry opens file in writer. then if you do a "Select all", new file, unformatted data you will the Calc data entry menu. Expected Results: Should have icon for Call on the entry list of "Open with". and when selected it should go straight to Calc data entry menu Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I verified that this happened on my other system also. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0
I reproduce it, but I have the general LibreOffice icon next to "LibreOffice" (duplicated entries). Version: 6.0.2.1 (x64) Build ID: f7f06a8f319e4b62f9bc5095aa112a65d2f3ac89 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI); Calc: group
yes the general icon is there, but there is no descriptor icon denoting which app "CALC" or "WRITER" or "BASE". and if you go to desktop and right click you get the "open Document" with preceding icon for which app to open. So it does not correctly identify that LibreOffice is installed. So now there are 2 bugs. this last is minor because it has the associated icon. But the "Open with" dialog has the General LibreOffice icon with no delineating app icon. thank for verifying that it is a problem todventtu@suomi24.fi. 3-07-2018

(In reply to fryedsoft from comment #3) > Created attachment 144063 [details] > Open With issue > > Context menu when you right click on a text file in windows Attached is what I've been seeing recently when you right click on a text file and select open with. you have two entries for Libreoffice, one is supposed to be calc and the other is supposed to be writer. Both of the entries take you to writer. Seen issue on new as well as upgraded windows 10. All systems are Windows 10 build 1803. Have seen this with LibreOffice 6.1 as well as the latest 6.0

Created attachment 153509 [details] Libreoffice About menu how come right click on desktop shows all proper icons for LibreOffice and not the generic one? Where right click on a .txt file comes up with first 2 as the generic LibreOffice icon as on my taskbar? I am at the latest level of Windows 10, and LibreOffice. I noticed in REGEDIT that OpenWith has "soffice.whatever" entry names and the .ods and .odt entries have "Libreoffice.whatever" entry names. maybe its the registry data that need to be created. check your own registry and see what your .txt says.

Sorry for comment 21: we have a problem with the automated script that sends these :(
You may close this, as I tested and it's fixed as of August 2023. Al
