Description tagishsimon 2018-02-15 23:15:12 UTC
Description:
In this bug, by 'focus', I'm pretty much meaning 'the ability to type stuff into a cell'.

If I open Libre Office and ask for a New Spreadsheet, either using the splash screen or the File - New - Spreadsheet menu, I enter into a spreadsheet and can immediately type stuff into cell A1. All good.

If I now invoke a new spreadsheet, either by using the 'new spreadsheet' button or using File, New, Spreadsheet, I enter into the new spreadsheet but I CANNOT immediately type stuff into cell A1.

The UI gives every apperance of focus being on A1. But I actually have to click the mouse on cell A1 (or another cell) to be able to enter data.

Likewise I cannot paste data into the new spreadsheet before I've clicked on it.

So there is inconsistency between the behaviour exhibited with respect to the first spreadsheet invoked in a session; and any later spreadsheets invoked in the session.

It doesn't seem to matter if the first spreadsheet is still loaded, so a pattern of 1) start LO 2) Invoke new spreadsheet 3) dismiss new spreadsheet 3) Invoke New Spreadsheet ... will see the lack-of-focus issue with the second spreadsheet, and with any created in the session thereafter.

Where is the focus in such cases? Who know.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Libre Office
2. Invoke new spreadsheet
3. enter data in A1 - note that you can do so immediately
4. Invoke another new spreadsheet
5. Note that you cannot enter data into A1 despite focus looking as if it is on A1

Actual Results:
Cannot enter data into A1 of a second or greater new spreadsheet created in a session, without mouseclicking on the spreadsheet; which is in contrast to the ability to enter data immediateky when creating the first new spreadsheet of a session

Expected Results:
Expected results are that user can immediately enter data into cell A1 of the second or greater new spreadsheet created in a session, exactly as the user can in the first new spreadsheet created in a session, i.e. without need to force focus by clicking on the spreadsheet.

Reproducible: Always

This has already been recently reported for Writer too. Need to find the original report.
