I have created a number of citations "from document", with shortnames following the pattern "author year", but now, I find that Libreoffice has changed the shortnames to 'CITATION "author year"'. I can manually change it back but I definitely did not initiate this change. Why does libreoffice make this change without asking?
Which operating system? You could test an older version, if you have a file where you have not saved this new change, but I need to know your OS to advise. Please also attach an example file, so we have something concrete to work on. Set to NEEDINFO. Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the information & document.
