Created attachment 140995 [details] Screenshot of Writer window and system's task switcher dialog This is a cosmetic bug- albeit impairing usability, it does not affect functionality of office suite themselves. I have recently upgraded my LibreOffice installation to version 5.4. While frequently switching back and forth between each program in the suite and other programs on the workspace, I found that LibreOffice does not have window title bar icon- which leads to confusion and mental double-take every time the system's task switcher (Alt+Tab) got used. Screenshots of each LibreOffice program while invoking desktop's task switcher (Alt+Tab) are attached: - You would see that a placeholder "image missing" icon is displayed at left side of every LibreOffice programs' title bar instead of the program's icon itself (or document's thumbnail). - You would see that a placeholder "image missing" icon is displayed on desktop's task switcher dialog (at the middle of screen), instead of the respective LibreOffice program's icon itself (or document's thumbnail). This causes confusion when there are multiple LibreOffice programs opened at the same time; user won't know which one is which until he/she moves the task switcher's cursor pass each of them. (Really time-consuming when there are dozens of programs running on the workspace) The problem affects all LibreOffice programs: Writer, Calc, Impress, Base, Draw, Math, and the main launcher; as demonstrated in the screenshots. Note: This problem is most prominent when LibreOffice is running under a traditional non-compositing window manager. If you are using a compositing one, disable its compositing function first before testing (or at least, disable its window thumbnailing function). Steps to reproduce (for the record): 1. Start any LibreOffice program (Writer, Calc, Impress, Base, Draw, Math, or the main LibreOffice launcher). 2. Look at its window icon (usually located on the left side of title bar; at top-left corner of the window). 3. You would see that there is no icon (or a system's placeholder icon) displayed on the window's title bar. 4. Hold Alt key, press Tab key (don't release Alt key yet). 5. You would see that the icon that should have been the LibreOffice program was not displayed (or displayed using system's placeholder icon). P.S. I encountered an "You must select/enter a version." error when attempting to submit the report via "guided" form (despite the Version field being set to "5.4.5.1 release"), so I have to use the "plain" form instead. Note that the attempt of submission was made using Pale Moon 25.8.1 with JavaScript disabled.

Hello Nutchanon, Do you reproduce the same issue with the Debian package? Could you try with another TDF build of LibreOffice or on a newer version of Debian? Best regards, Alex.

Older LibreOffice release does not have this problem, e.g. 4.4.3.2 DEB release from libreoffice.org-- which I used until the said upgrade to 5.4 (5.4.5.1); so this bug might counts as a regression. Screenshots of LibreOffice 4.4.3.2 programs with system's task switcher are now attached for comparison... - Writer 4.4.3.2 (file #141365) V.S. 5.4.5.1 (file #140995) - Calc 4.4.3.2 (file #141366) V.S. 5.4.5.1 (file #140996) - Impress 4.4.3.2 (file #141367) V.S. 5.4.5.1 (file #140997) - Base 4.4.3.2 (file #141368) V.S. 5.4.5.1 (file #140998) - Draw 4.4.3.2 (file #141369) V.S. 5.4.5.1 (file #140999) - Math 4.4.3.2 (file #141370) V.S. 5.4.5.1 (file #141000) - Launcher 4.4.3.2 (file #141371) V.S. 5.4.5.1 (file #141001) You would see that in each LibreOffice 4.4 screenshot, there is a corresponding program icon displayed on top-left of its window and system's task switcher dialog at the middle of screen; unlike 5.4- which system's placeholder icon is used in both spots. LibreOffice: 4.4.3.2 32-bit (Debian packages from libreoffice.org) Window manager: MATE Marco 1.8.1 (Debian; with compositing disabled) Desktop: MATE 1.8.1 (Debian) Display server: X11R7 Xorg 7.7 (Debian) System: Debian GNU/Linux 7.0 Wheezy i386 "About LibreOffice" dialog information follows... Could you please paste the info from Help - about LibreOffice ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the information has been provided
Oh, I see you provided the help info in the description. Do you reproduce it if you call LibreOffice like SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen soffice?

Running LibreOffice with `SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen` environment variable resulted in title bar icon (and icon in task switcher) being correctly displayed on all LibreOffice programs. Though, doing so also cause the programs to ignore system's font configuration and color scheme in the process, making their appearance come out relatively dull. Screenshots of each LibreOffice program in this configuration are attached for comparison: - Writer generic (attachment #141439 [details]) V.S. default (attachment #140995 [details]) - Calc generic (attachment #141440 [details]) V.S. default (attachment #140996 [details]) - Impress generic (attachment #141441 [details]) V.S. default (attachment #140997 [details]) - Base generic (attachment #141442 [details]) V.S. default (attachment #140998 [details]) - Draw generic (attachment #141443 [details]) V.S. default (attachment #140999 [details]) - Math generic (attachment #141444 [details]) V.S. default (attachment #141000 [details]) - Launcher generic (attachment #141445 [details]) V.S. default (attachment #141001 [details]) You would see that on forced generic VCL configuration, a corresponding program icon is displayed on top-left of the window and on system's task switcher at the center of the screen; unlike the default VCL configuration, which system's placeholder icon is displayed on both spots. From this, it is likely that the problem could now be narrowed to LibreOffice's VCL-GTK2 implementation.
