Sorry, but what do you mean with "standard mail client"?
Workaround: in your "standard" mail client, attach the document.
With standard mail client I mean the mail program I would like to use. The one that is set as system default and in my case is actually configured and can send mails. Sure I can use the suggested work around but then you could also deactivate the option at all. I guess the bug is that on Mac LO does not check what app is set as standard and just opens Mail. Maybe it is hard coded...
Pretty sure this is a DUP too...
@shop2018 : does your "standard" email application contain spaces in its file path ? If so, then you might have been bitten by bug 59715 As you don't mention what your "standard" email client is, it is a bit difficult for us to offer any other advice. I am also assuming that you have indicated the email client to use in the relevant LibreOffice configuration setting under: Preferences > Internet > E-mail and pointed to your app bundle there or the relevant path. If, for example, I set LO6032 to point to Thunderbird.app in my Applications folder, when I execute Document as E-mail, Thunderbird is opened. In other words, in my setup, this is worksforme. If your setup is different, please be more precise and provide corresponding details. Setting NEEDINFO pending requested information. Please set back to UNCONFIRMED once you have done this.
@shop2018 : please also note that LO does not to my knowledge support emailing via a webmail system, so if you have one of these as your "standard", then you are out of luck.
Alex: so maybe the real bug here is that LO instead of having its own setting for it should use the system settings for what is the preferences email client (in macOS, there is such a setting, perhaps a bit counter-intuitively, in Mail.app's Preferences dialog, "General" : "Default email reader")? (Assuming that setting even is visible to other apps, no idea.)
My standard mail app is Thunderbird. After setting Thunderbird as my mail client under Preferences > Internet > E-mail the Thunderbird opened correctly with the file attached. Prior to this the setting E-mail was empty.
(s/preferences/preferred/ in my previous comment)
(In reply to Tor Lillqvist from comment #7) > Alex: so maybe the real bug here is that LO instead of having its own > setting for it should use the system settings for what is the preferences > email client (in macOS, there is such a setting, perhaps a bit > counter-intuitively, in Mail.app's Preferences dialog, "General" : "Default > email reader")? (Assuming that setting even is visible to other apps, no > idea.) No idea either, and I didn't know that you could change the system-wide setting via the Mail.app preferences - who'd have thought ? Not exactly the most intuitive of places to look though ;-) According to the OP in comment 8, this is WFM. @Tor : if you want to open a new one for an enhancement to use the system-wide settings defined in the Mail.app preferences instead, be my guest :-) How does this work on various Linux Desktops ? I haven't checked recently, but I'm assuming that the user can still override any global desktop setting via the option under the LibreOffice Options dialog ?
This setting should be accessible. Thunderbird was able to set the setting to Thunderbird (I have not ever opend Mail prior to this). Also I click a mailto link Thunderbird will open. I do not say this has a priority but if there is a chance...
@Alex: yes, it was news to me too, Aaron found it documented at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201607 .
