Description JIM7 2018-06-01 09:00:04 UTC
Description:
I do a LOT of editing. You can find some of my work on <www.storiesonline.net> under the editor's byline of "TeNderLoin."
>
You currently have Liberation Serif as the default font.
I find that this font is hard on my eyes.
I am suggesting that the default font be made adjustable, and that it "sticks" to each users copy of LibreOffice.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.COPY chapter
2.CTRL N
3.CTRL V

Actual Results:
Liberation Serif font

Expected Results:
Same

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Hoping you can make the default font user definable.
Thank you.

/me thinks that doing a LOT of editing would benefit from getting familiar with published documentation [1], and learning used tools in general.

Default fonts are configured using Options-Writer-Basic Fonts; or better by using a pre-configured templates with proper styles.

Copying and pasting an existing text is expected to keep original fonts *by default*, and may be done without formatting using Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V.

Using styles allows for easy font (and other formatting) management, and allows to bind hotkeys to frequently-used styles.

The settings made at the application level persist when one updates, so they "stick" to the user copy.

Agree with Mike, the option exists. And your link smells a bit ;-)

All well and good. But every time I open a new page, I get Liberation Serif AS DEFAULT.
I CANNOT CHANGE THE DEFAULT SETTING, and I don't know how to use pre-configured templates.
Copy paste works fine, but when I open an ODT I get Liberation Serif, every time.
That font bothers my eyes. I DON'T LIKE IT.

In Writer, go to Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Basic Fonts (Western) and change the default there.
For templates, File > Templates > Open Templates... and the dialog that shows up (admittedly we do not ship many templates but you could save your own).

Default font since 6.0 is DejaVu, by the way.

And last but not least you can ask questions about how to use the program at ask.libreoffice.org in English or your language.
