Description snackbarian 2018-06-09 20:23:19 UTC
Description:
If a have a DOCUMENT.odt in a folder where there is a special character (ÅÄÖ) that I use in Swedish, I am not able to open the document and it will write "File does not exist". All due, if I change the folder it will work, sometimes it works by changing the name of the document.

This happened to three previously working documents which I created through Libre Writter and this started about a week ago, maybe a new update caused this?

My version is: 5.4.6.2
OS: Kubuntu 17.10.1

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ?

Actual Results:
File does not exist, cannot open the document inside my desired detestation.

Expected Results:
Opened the documents.

Reproducible: Always

I updated to v6.04.2 and installed the Swedish language pack. This problem still is not solved.

How to replicate this bug:

1. Documents saved to "/media/USERNAME/Backup NAME/Backup DATE/#TEXT/ÅÄÖ/"
2. Opening the documents inside the folder. "/media/USERNAME/Backup NAME/Backup DATE/#TEXT/ÅÄÖ/NAME OF THE FILE ÅÄÖ.odt does not exist".
3. Move the documents from "/media/USERNAME/Backup NAME/Backup DATE/#TEXT/ÅÄÖ/" to Desktop -> Now working perfect for one file but not for two others.

Update 2:

I found out why one document worked, because it had no special characters. Previously if I would rename a document that showed "File does not exist" to for example 1.odt, it would work.

HOWEVER, if I change it to "Å.odt" it will not be detected and a error will show up "Å.odt does not exist.

This seems very strange and makes it impossible for me to keep using LibreOffice...

Dear snackbarian,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
