Description Mike A. Fargo 2018-06-14 20:17:35 UTC
After having compiled a document from a selection of parts from different files (sxw, odt, doc), partly from 2005, tryin gto save the file leads to an error like: XML part invalid, cannot write file.

If autosave is enabled, this even leads to an infinite loop, so your work is lost.

As I could not save the file as odt, I tried an export to word doc, but again, I got an error message, and the document is not accessible any more, all work lost once again.

I might have succeeded if I had printed the file to PDF, as it had looked fine, anyway.

I can understand that compositing a file from parts from within 16 years or so, can cause problems. But these should never set LibreOffice into an unstable state where you lose controle over your work.

Thanks.

Maybe this is 4 issues in one:

1. Copy & Paste can lead to an undefined/unstable state.
(All documents had been opened with the same version of libreoffice)

2. Autosave leads to an infinite loop, you have to kill libreoffice ps.

3. Save as ODT fails (rather than just dropping invalid parts).

4. Export to DOC gives an error, but does not return to an usable window.
All menues faded, blank content.
