Description Yauhen Kharuzhy 2018-06-21 21:03:19 UTC
Description:
When column chart with datetime X values is created, X values are grouped by date and it's impossible to change this. Chart works as expected if convert datetime to text with TEXT() function.

Sample file is attached.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create spreadsheet
2. Fill one column by 30 datetime values incremented by 1 hour, second column – by any numbers
3. Select values in two column, create column chart.

Actual Results:
Only two columns in the chart

Expected Results:
30 columns in the chart.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
If copy datetime values to another column with conversion to text (TEXT() function) and use them as X values, chart looks right.

Comment 3 Susan Gessing 2018-06-26 20:39:00 UTC
I was able to reproduce the bug in the following (Windows 8.1):

Version: 6.0.5.2 (x64)
Build ID: 54c8cbb85f300ac59db32fe8a675ff7683cd5a16
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3; UI render: GL;
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

 and

Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: b1740fba0d1e6e3d69c3781734509317f42a0e4f
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3; UI render: GL;
TinderBox: Win-x86@42, Branch:master, Time: 2018-06-15_08:49:04
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

Probably unrelated, but I couldn't save my test file after I created the chart and tried to save. (6.0.5.2). In my attachment, I include the error just in case it's been seen before and might be helpful with another bug. For now, I'll assume it was some random thing on my computer.

Automatic detection of date is the expected result.
If you want X axys data to be treated as text :
Edit the chart,
right clic on X axys,
choose "format axys",
select "text" instead of "automatic" in the 1st tab of the dialog.

see attachment.

Hmmmm. Works. But WHY???? Why if I have datetime column, it is recognized as date? Why switch controlling this is located at the tab 'Scale'? This is completely crazy behaviour for me...

The chart exhibits the bug on fileopen in OOo 3.3, but double-clicking it (or creating it from scratch) sets it back to the original text scale.
Issue started in 3.4, when date scales started being supported.

This is actually a duplicate of bug 68679.
