Description Regina Henschel 2018-07-07 17:17:20 UTC
Start with a new empty presentation.
Switch to Master View.
Open Form Controls toolbar and add a button.
Switch back to Normal View.
The button is not visible.
Show presentation.
The button is visible.

It is allowed in file format to have form controls on a master page.

As a form control is shown in Master View and in running presentation, it should be visible in edit mode too, same as other drawing objects.

example

Confirmed with Ubuntu 18.04 (64bit) builds for 5.4.7.2, 6.0.5.2 and 6.1RC1

Following the steps the button added is displayed when the presentation is executed, but it does not appear to respond to events (mouse click). I suppose that a separate issue.
