Description: Using sort as an example. There are several 'options' available. Every time I build a new spreadsheet I wind up going to the 'options' to select the same features. If the 'options' were mirrored in the preferences I could set them the way I usually want them and not set them for each spreadsheet. Of course if on occasion I wanted to deviate from my 'normal' pattern re-setting them in a given spreadsheet could be done with the existing 'options' window. Steps to Reproduce: 1. each time I create a new spreadsheet 2. want to change default options 3. open options window 4. change one or two options. Actual Results: works fine just a PITA Expected Results: If somebody adds this feature, I will pretend to be your friend. :) Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Probably this feature is extensible to some or all of the options in all the applications in the software suite.

Thank you for your report. Yet, there are some problems with it. First: it doesn't work like "let me saver options (I don't tell you the exact list); *for example* sort". You either list all options you need, or even file different reports for each (group of) options. Otherwise, the report is about unspecified matter, and thus about nothing. Second: there is already such option. It is called "templates". Just save a spreadsheet with your preferred options as a template (*.OTS), and (optionally) set that template as your default. Mike Kaganski Perhaps I wasn't clear but your suggestion doesn't solve my problem. Your suggestion makes sense only IF the problem is one where data from the same source is being re-examined again and again. It fails when the data is coming from different sources. This seldom the case for me. I am creating new spreadsheets for one or two analysis and then working with an entirely new data set. This can happen ten or fifteen times a day. The problem I was looking to solve was some of the time the data has a range of column labels sometimes not. Which means when there are labels in the data I have to go to the window (see the screenshot I included) and select the option that lets LibreOffice know how to address the top row. I have to do it every freaking time the data has a set of labels which is most of the time. The default is the opposite of what I need. If I could override the defaults for the window in the preferences I could create my own defaults for the data and not have to futz with those options every time I import or paste a new sheet into the file. The problem is not unique to that specific option which is why being able to set up preferences which actually allow you to control the options in all these windows would be a boon to mankind.

And making that empty template the default one makes creating new spreadsheets with *customized* preferences as easy as clicking the "New" (Ctrl+N)?

I have only used templates when there was a large number of 'identical' data sets to play with. I never thought to use a blank one with the options I use all the time. Thanks for the suggestion.
