Created attachment 143876 [details] First step - requirement I have for a long while experienced faulty behaviour in that the rename sheet popup pops up when selecting a new sheet name. Today I found out how to reproduce it on demand. 1. Copy say to cells - which is anumbered list with formula in this case set to: =A43+1 (that is step above by one) 2. Then select another sheet to copy cell values to 3. As soon as a different sheet is selected this sticky flaw is started and makes me worry (and I am pretty experienced) to the quality and not the least document integrity. 4. I certainly press cancel I use a HP laptop with win10 and run the latest libreoffice release (6.05.2) Pleas fix it :) Cheers Happy livreoffice/mictosoft user
Created attachment 143877 [details] Step 2 - just select a different sheet :) Pls - see pop up (disregard search panel - not relevant)
Created attachment 143878 [details] Step 2 - just select a different sheet -again - reproducable :) Funny - but pls fix :)
I cannot reproduce with LO 6.2, windows. On your printscreen is Search result windowsw visible, but it's not mentioned in your steps. Please, upload test file and step by step instructions how to reproduce the bug. Thank you.
Well, it should be easy to reproduce... I have installed the win64, 6.0.5.2 official release. I just reproduced it with a brand new file, created three sheets, selected two blank cells in sheet 1, selected sheet three and was asked to rename the sheet! Every time I report a bug - I get this first reply. need more info. When I tell you it has nothing to do with the search panel, it has nothing to di with it. The other reaction, is that it is already reported. So I appreciate better follow up when new easy and obvious bugs are produced - even with three screen shots. I see this in all excel files i work with. And I also believe that the same flaw happens with other scenarios when selcting e different sheet (that is one that exist).
Created attachment 143912 [details] Test file - created today (no data) Hmm, I uploaded a test file - format .xlsx - three sheets - no data (advanced..). Just do 1. Select two cells in sheet 1 - copy (C-c) 2. Select sheet 3 3. Popup :) However - xlsx cannot be uploaded - hooray... - not supported...
Here you may download the file I used https://www.dropbox.com/s/9tz2m1567zopoxa/test%20rename%20sheet%20popup.xlsx?dl=0 It is a dummy file (no data) Having done step 1 (Created two new sheets and selected two cells in A-column and copied them using Control-C) select sheet 3 Voila... Screen shot https://www.dropbox.com/s/g58at55ul4efuix/step%202.png?dl=0
Still cannot reproduce. Do you select Sheet3 with double click?
I think the problem is what you suggested: Double click I use the same steps as last time, but this time no rename sheet popup... :) I do not intend to do that but for some reason it happens. If so, this bug could be closed. I experience a similar behaviour when I in win10 open pinned files and select a file (once, not opened). Some times, i.e. quite often, it complains that the file is already open albeit that I haven't intentionally opened it more than once. Then I press cancel and file opens I think these matters are related and due to some mouse config or some other client problem. I am not sure how to resolve this - although I could maybe use a different external mouse. I haven't set up any particular advanced mouse accelerator - just using the default setup - I believe.
Dubleclick triggers rename sheet dialog,so just use single/click should be sufficient. But if you do single-click and system "translate" it sometimes as double-click it can be your problem.. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/266738/troubleshoot-mouse-double-clicking-when-you-single-click https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware-winpc/mouse-double-clicks-on-single-click-only-on/a17729a4-3fb6-4117-aea4-a327ad4e926a?auth=1 and see googlesearch> windows 10 single click acting like double click
Just to fill you in with an update Yesterday, I swapped external USB-device from a HP/USB to a Microsoft/Usb pointing device (on win10, x64). I could not reproduce the problem with double action (say open file twice or double click on sheet to trigger rename). A big relief - if this resolves this sticky problem - with many side effects (say creating several folders instead of just one... - in file explorer). And not the least all the copy/paste operations that were escaped when office misinterpreted the double click (for example using line feed to paste copied cells - not working). Thanks for good advice! Cheers Sverre

Yes, the double click problem vanished when I switched to a Microsoft/USB external mouse from an HP mouse - both with the same visual design. With windows 7 this HP mouse worked normal but after the win10 upgrade (maybe also a while later) - it seems as the driver did not work in the same way as before (there are som technical articals about this issue). However, it was the response to this reported problem on the Libreoffice Calc that made me aware of what was the problem (single click treated as double click). This was the case in applications like 1) Microsoft File explorer (for ex., open/install a file) 2) Select operations in Libreoffice 3) On taskbar - open say pinned file (opened twice) 4) Copy/paste problems due to buffer cleared on double click (typically Libreoffice) but it seems to work better in browser environments and hence was a bit hard to understand what was the problem. In addition, these anomalies seemed to only sometimes be the case. I have not changed the Control Panel/Mouse setup - but used the default provided. I hope this makes sense for others that see this weird behaviour and do not understand what or why these anomalies occur (double click response to single click). I have also seen slow response during context switching. For exampe from startup to login - where I had to wait excessively long before I was able to get access to the login/password panel. Also this seems to be working much more smooth. It is an HP laptop with intel I5 generation 2 with 8GB RAM. So it should not be slow at context switching - but single/double click could make race conditions (on/off, on/off in its own way)
Thanks for info. I think we can close the bug.
