Description: I often write documents with a lot of formulas in it. For convenience I mostly copy existing formulas and only change the content in the equation editor. After leaving the equation editor the formulas are correctly shown. I save the document, export it to a pdf-file and everything is correctly shown. But when I open my document and double-click on a changed formula the formula jumps back in its original form. I mean it shows the content before I changed the formula. You can try it by yourself with the attached file: "Problem.odt" (I marked the troublesome formula). This only happens after I used extensively copy and paste. I have this problem on three different computers. On every computer runs a diffrent Linux version. And I have to admitt that I have this problem at least for one year. Sorry that I did not mentioned it earlier. Actual Results: - Expected Results: - Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce User Profile Reset: No Additional Info:

Not correct bug report. You are required to write reproducible steps AND: Actual Results: Expected Results: It's always better idea to test also with master. Normally you get it from https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ but in Linux it's very convenient to use Appimage in Linux from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/ or daily from https://libreoffice.soluzioniopen.com/.
Reproducible steps: Copy and paste extensively formulas in a writer document. Sorry but I can not tell how many times you have to do this. Actual Results: A writer document with formulas that seems to be correct. But if you open this document later and double-click on one of the formulas the formula bounces back to its former form. Please try out the attached file: "ODT file with the troublesome formula". Expected Results: A writer document with formulas that is actually saving what I see. It shouldn't be possible to create documents like the on I attached. Very important when you have to teach "stuff" with formulas in it. On two of my computers (Ubuntu-Mate 16.04 and Netrunner 18.03) I made videos that illustrate the problem. I will attach them too. Thank you for your advice to use Appimage in Linux. But when I install Linux, LibreOffice is always installed too. Nowadays I don't have time for trying out new technologies.

Please do as asked and appreciate our time. You need to give reproducible steps. You didn't even report correct LO version, you marked 6.1.0 and video shows 5.4.2 and 5.3.0. For professional use, go to 5.4.7 or better 6.0.6 ("still"). For this case, test with master 6.2+, as suggested. I did "Double-click on this formula" in LO master 6.2+, it showed fine, saved and reopened fine.
If initial formula is from .DOC this can be a duplicate of Bug 61253.
The videos show older versions because (I have to quote myself): "And I have to admit that I have this problem at least for one year." I recorded the videos in that time. But you are still right. I actually clicked on the wrong version number. I am sorry for that. The attached file was created with: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.2.1.0+ Build-ID: 1:6.0.2-1 on Netrunner-Linux 18.03. This is the version I am using now. No, the initial formula is not from .DOC. I am exclusively using LibreOffice (on Linux!). And believe me, I appreciate your time very much. I thought that the following will happen: 1) A programmer will open the attached file and observe what I observed. 2) The programmer will look inside the code of this file and find the cause for this behaviour. I can only give you this file and the videos as proof of what I originally described.
Created attachment 143976 [details] Test of the attached odt-file I imagined to be a programmer who wants to check the claimed "bug". On my freshly installed Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS everything happened as I described (see the video "Test of the attached odt-file"). Question: How is it possible that a formula is changing by itself only by double clicking it? Where is the original content of the formula saved and where is the content saved which I can see after opening the file?
Created attachment 143977 [details] Test with LibreOfficeDev-6.2.0.0.alpha0_2018-08-04-x86_64 Ok, I followed your advice and downloaded the LibreOffice AppImage Package: "LibreOfficeDev-6.2.0.0.alpha0_2018-08-04-x86_64". I wanted to understand what you meant with "I did Double-click on this formula in LO master 6.2+, it showed fine, saved and reopened fine." Yes, you can open the file and it "shows fine". Yes, you can save it (like I did), you can reopen it and it will still look fine. BUT when I double-click on the formula it shows its original content and not the one I saw before. This happened with the above mentioned LibreOffice version too. The evidence has to be in the file! (or is it more complicated?) Again, I am really sorry that I can not tell you how I created it. I promise you I only copied and pasted my own formulas and after some time the program starts to go haywire.
You still didn't give simple facts, without explanation, for example: Reproducible steps: 1. open ODT attachment 143910 [details] 2. copy....? 3. double click on formula .....? 4. change to..... 5. save and exit and reopen Actual Results: previews .... but on double click shows .... Expected Results: it should both preview and edit.....?
