In Ubuntu 18.04 the screen did not black out but crashed directly. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a new/existing document 2. Press the File button 3. Let the cursor stay on the Send button or click the Send button Actual Results: LibreOffice crashes. Expected Results: Never used this function before. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info:
Thank you for reporting the bug. it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
Same behavior. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a document with Writer 2. Scroll down to File > Send 3. LO freezes for a few seconds (or longer) then crashes I haven't changed any of the Tools>Options>Internet settings from the defaults, so e-mail is blank. Crash also occurs in LibreOffice "Safe Mode". (Note that selecting File > Send does _not_ cause a crash for me in Calc, Draw, Impress, or Math; only Writer.) My system info: Help - About LibreOffice: Version: 6.0.6.2 Build ID: 1:6.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 4.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group1 installed via ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-6-0 $ java -version openjdk version "1.8.0_181" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_181-8u181-b13-0ubuntu0.16.04.1-b13) OpenJDK Server VM (build 25.181-b13, mixed mode) OS: 32-bit Lubuntu 16.04.05 Note: Earlier I reported this issue as a comment to Bug 115408, but I was told to create a new bug report. But then I found this Bug.
The issue (for me at least) seems similar to Bug 112930. A comment there says, "my crash linked with JRE. If disable option "Use a Java runtime environment" in Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Advanced, then LO works OK" That's the same for me - if I disable option "Use a Java runtime environment", then LO does not crash. This bug may also be a duplicate of Bug 108619. Perhaps the original reporter could check if disabling using Java has the same effect (prevents crash).
Hello Jennifer Cormier, Please try the workaround from https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108619#c16 to see if it solves the issue... I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present
I can't speak for the original reporter, but both workarounds from https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108619#c16 eliminate that crash on my system. Thank you.

I upgraded LO to Version: 6.0.6.2, Build ID: 1:6.0.6-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 and turned off JRE as suggested by other users. The problem was gone then. JRE was defaulted as 'On' for this version, LO Writer just woundn't start, it just crashed. LO Calc would start with a blank spreadsheet, but it also crashed when opening an existing spreadsheet.
