Screen shot of message after crash

After upgrade to Xubuntu 18.04 from 17.10, I cannot open any LO file.

Problem behavior:
Opening any file immediately crashes as shown in the attached image. It tries to go through the recovery process of the previous Untitled document, then it goes into this crash/recovery attempt loop.

I thought it was the older LO file perhaps. So I saved a blank new test.ods, closed and re-opened. Same behavior.
I mainly use Calc but I tried opening a Writer doc and same behavior.

I've tried running in safe mode and resetting the profile. No luck.
I've gone down the options in the safe mode prompt. No luck.
Tried disabling opencl, No luck.
Tried completely removing LO from the system through synaptic. Then re-installing. No luck either.

Any ideas?
