I try to open Writer with the safe mode without results !
I try to "Configure" -> "Disable Hardware Acceleration (OpenGL, OpenCL)"
Click "Apply Changes and Restart"
like this link : https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/OpenGL#How_to_enable.2Fdisable_OpenGL

Could you give a try to 6.0.6?

Thanks Julien to answer me fastly !

My package installer (Synaptic) of Ubuntu doesn't suggest updating this newer version today. Nevertheless, I will try to install this newer version in next days. So, don't try doing anything, till I'm coming back.

Have a good Sunday !

You're welcome! :-)
Adding LO ppa (https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa) as a repository may help to retrieve more easily a recent LO version.

Let's put this one to NEEDINFO waiting back your feedback.

I have a similar situation.

I had LO 6.0.?
then I installed 6.1.0.3

when i try to run LO 6.1 it crashes as the original bug was posted; however, i can run LO 6.0

in case there was some conflict, i uninstalled both. rebooted. redownloaded 6.1, installed it...
but same problem

then i rebooted, installed 6.0.6 and it works fine

I must say I CAN use other packages, like gimp, firefox, brave, skype.
but i CANNOT use the "Ubuntu software center".

when i run it, it does as with LO 6.1...
the icon appears at the system bar, the mouse pointer turns to turning circle, the icon pulses for some time, then it disappears, and no window appears.

Version: 6.0.6.2

i suppose this can help:

i have htop running. i can see that compiz runs at *single digit CPU * normally, but when i run LibreOffice 6.1 that will fail, compiz jumps to 40% for about 5 seconds, then recovers down to single digit CPU again.

also, when running LO 6.1 the splash screen appears, but it closes immediately, without any progress in the progress bar, as occurs normally in 6.0. the icon on the system bar keeps pulsating.

BTW "ubuntu software center" does the same with compiz as above... and it then fails too.
