This applies to Calc, Draw, Impress, Math and Writer, as well as when none of the above have yet been selected and it's just the underlying LibreOffice prompting. (I didn't try Base.) Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start LibreOffice 1.a (optional) Create a doc with Calc, Draw, Impress, Math, or Writer 2. menu Tools > Options, and then Internet > MediaWiki 3. LO crashes Crash occurs immediately even in LibreOffice "Safe Mode". My system info: Help - About LibreOffice: Version: 6.0.6.2 Build ID: 1:6.0.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 4.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group installed via ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-6-0 $ java -version openjdk version "1.8.0_181" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_181-8u181-b13-0ubuntu0.16.04.1-b13) OpenJDK Server VM (build 25.181-b13, mixed mode) OS: 32-bit Lubuntu 16.04.05
This may be related to the underlying issue described in Bug 108619. I discovered that if in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Advanced, I disable option "Use a Java runtime environment", then selecting MediaWiki does not cause a crash. Instead there is a pop-up window titled "Enable JRE?" that says, "LibreOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. However, use of a JRE has been disabled. Do you want to enable the use of a JRE now?" When one says, "No" or "Cancel", then the MediaWiki options are entirely blank, and the pop-up does not return. HOWEVER, if one then does "Help > Restart in Safe Mode...", that (LibreOffice Safe Mode) defaults to the JRE being enabled, so if one doesn't first disable it, then the crash occurs when selecting MediaWiki.
Hello Jennifer Cormier, Please try the workaround from https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108619#c16 to see if it solves the issue... I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present
Both workarounds from https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108619#c16 eliminate the crash issue on my system. (Tested after adding that kernel parameter temporarily, then running LibreOffice in Safe Mode, with JRE enabled.) Thank you!
