Description: Using Libre Office Writer I created a text document with photos inserted. Worked great, UNTIL I saved the document! When I opened it again to make changes all the photos had disappeared. The frames were there but they were empty. This can’t be anything to do with memory because I have a 1 terrabite ssd in my laptop. I create a lot of large documents with photos so if Libre Office/ Open Office can’t handle them I will have to go back to Word! Actual Results: Create a new document in Libre Office writer, add text, add photos, Save the document As, and close! I am running Windows 10, so, Now go into Documents and open the document. All of the photos will have disappeared. In fact, if you open any old documents (using Libre Office to view them), which contain text and photos, the photos will have disappeared in them too. In terms of actually creating the document managing text and photos it was great BUT Clearly there is a problem with photos once you save the document. It is a bit weird because this is a very basic requirement. Expected Results: All of the photos in the document had disappeared! Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Clearly if you are using Libre Office writer to create a document with text and photos, then you would expect to find the photos in the document when you open it!?
Ian, thank you for reporting the bug. Is it possible to attach a sample document, as this makes it easier for us to verify the bug? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the requested document is provided. (Please note that the attachment will be public, remove any sensitive information before attaching it)
Created attachment 144979 [details] Fire Lighting Techniques Dieter has asked me to attach this doc to Bugzilla so others can work on it. I created this doc myself. It is text with photos. I saved it and then tried to add to it, but when I opened it in the Documents folder, All of the photos had disappeared. I emailed the doc to Dieter. I opened the doc as the email attachment I sent to Dieter and All the photos appeared. I then downloaded the attachment on to my Desk top screen and when I opened it there, All of the photos had disappeared again! So photos disappear in the Documents folder, reappear in the email attachment, but then disappear when downloaded onto the Desk Top screen. The file is 3.08 MB sdo too big to attach here??? Do I need to see a psychiatrist?
I can't confirm it, but a lot of images seems to have the wrong position. I think your bug report is related to some others, like bug 98537 or bug 114034.
Do you encounter the same problem if you save your document in OpenDocument Format (native document format of LibreOffice)? Status set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested informations are provided. Best regards. JBF
I have tried all of the options including Office Open Text .docx, MS Word 97-2003.doc, Open document text .odt, the text is there but the photos are missing. If I send an email with the file "Microsoft Word Document (.docx), attached, via gmail, magically, if I open the file inside gmail, all the photos are there. If I download the file and save it to my Desk Top screen, all of the photos disappear! So you can only see the entire document with photos if you look at it in gmail. I'm not a computer expert, I just use them. I tried Open Office because I was fed up with Microsoft. Open office is supposed to be compatible and work with Word documents but clearly, it does not. I don't have any answers, except maybe to go back to using MS Word. Here is the Fire Lighting Techniques doc. Open it within your email and you will see the photos. Download it and they will probably disappear. Thank you for trying to help, Ian L
I downloaded the document and overwrote a former version of the document. Result: Document has 0 kB and no content (see attachment). But I couldn't reproduce this.
Sorry, I can open that file, but I can't attach it.
Do you still get the problem, if you launch LibreOffice in Safe mode, Help - Restart in safe mode and then Continue in safe mode (or launch from the Windows Start menu entry)? Version 6.1 is getting pretty stable, so it would be interesting to hear, if upgrading to 6.1.2 helps. Set to NEEDINFO. Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
