Description: This method (https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Removing_Line_Breaks) does not work correctly to remove line breaks after copying and pasting texts from other sources (PDF or WEB). It is much more practical and simple to select the text where we want to remove line breaks, selecting "Find & Replace", writing $ in the "Find" box and pressing the "Replace All" button. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Tools - AutoCorrect - AutoCorrect Options 2. Options tab, ensure that Combine single line paragraphs if length greater than 50% is selected, and then enter a new percentage. <OK> 3. In the Apply Style box on the Formatting bar, choose “Default”. 4. Format - AutoCorrect - Apply -> Wrong route, maybe it's Tools - AutoCorrect - Apply ... but does not work correctly to remove line breaks. Actual Results: Not work correctly to remove line breaks Expected Results: I expected the same thing that is done correctly with "Find & Replace" and the $ symbol in the "Find" box. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I have tried in all possible ways varying even the percentages from 0% to 100% in "Combine single line paragraphs if length greater than 50%" and it does not work.
I can't confirm it with Version: 6.0.6.2 (x64) Build-ID: 0c292870b25a325b5ed35f6b45599d2ea4458e77 CPU-Threads: 4; BS: Windows 10.0; UI-Render: Standard; Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: group and Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) Build ID: 48cfa0b00b22f11ade53aec79b2fdddad253e1bd CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; VCL: win; TinderBox: Win-x86_64@42, Branch:master, Time: 2018-10-03_02:01:42 Locale: en-US (de_DE); Calc: CL I used the steps from [1] but I can't see a difference to the steps from the oöd help. Report is that "Combine single line paragraphs if length greater than..." doesn't work. It seems to me that reporter is right. Dieter, what does it mean you can't confirm? If it works for you please explain how and give example document. Or you understood it differently?
Created attachment 145373 [details] Video capture of the problem described in the first comment I accompany a video capture where I first verify the possible failure following the instructions of "Removing Line Breaks" in https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Removing_Line_Breaks and how in the end I solve it with a trick of "Find & Replace" (I have lowered the quality of the recording I hope it is displayed well)
(In reply to Tonyab from comment #3) > Created attachment 145373 [details] > Video capture of the problem described in the first comment > I'm sorry, but I couldn't see anything in the video. I couldn't reproduce it with 65%. I followed the steps from the online help
Created attachment 145377 [details] Video in FLV format All right! I send you the video in FLV format. If you see it from your mobile it is possible that you need a video viewer like VLC. In principle from the computer I can view it in both formats.
(In reply to Dieter Praas from comment #4) I have tested from 0 to 100% in version 6.1.2.1. and it does not work. I send you the video in FLV format attached in comment 5, I hope you can see it.
Thanks you for the video. Now I can see the difference. I used line breaks (ctrl+enter) and not paragraph breaks.
The example in the video consists of changing the style of a block of text (with many short paragraphs) to Preformatted Text. With this I can repro even in 3.3.0. Dear Tonyab, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. The problem persists in any version of Libreoffice (including 6.4). I have verified that the problem is due to the paragraph jump with <ENTER>. It only works correctly in the case of inserting manual line breaks. But it doesn't work with spaces between paragraphs. At the present time, the only solution is to search ($) and replace () with <Find & Replace>. Having again a look at this bug report: Help [1] is about line break and this works, if you follow stepf from help. But example in video of comment 3 is about paragraph breaks. So AFAIK LO doesn't offer such a feature for paragraph breaks. So for me NAB or perhaps an enhancement request. Tonyab, what do you think? => NEEDINFO [1] https://help.libreoffice.org/7.6/en-US/text/swriter/guide/removing_line_breaks.html?&DbPAR=SHARED&System=WIN
