Description Albert Acer 2018-10-23 02:23:49 UTC
Description:
In Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Guatemala and Other Latin American countries, the size of the paper "Oficio" (Oficio Latinoamericano), used for the production of institutional documents, does not coincide with the dimensions of the sheet of paper "Oficio" American, of the United States, defined in all versions of LibreOffice and OpenOffice existing until today. Likewise, in Argentina and Brazil the Latin American paper "Oficio" is called "Folio" because its dimensions are based on the British or Anglo-Saxon paper measures known as Folio or "Foolscap".

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice 6.1.2 or any previous version in Spanish.
2. Go to Writer or Calc or Impress
3. Go to "Format" / "Formato".
4. Go to "Page" / "Página".
5. Go to "Page" Tab / "Página".
6. Open the "Format" drop-down list box ("Formato").

Actual Results:
Missing page size "Oficio Latinoamericano" or "Folio" or "Oficio 2" with dimensions 8.5 X 13 inches (21.59 cm X 33 cm).

Expected Results:
Solution for Latin American countries: Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, Guatemala and others. New page size "Oficio Latinoamericano" or "Folio" or "Oficio 2" with dimensions 8.5 X 13 inches (21.59 cm X 33 cm).

The solution for this anomaly in LibreOffice would be that the development team could define a page size with the name "Oficio Latinoamericano", or "Folio", or "Oficio 2", another reason to try to seduce Latin American users offering them an alternative tailored to their needs.

I correct the route where the Error occurs.

1. Open LibreOffice Writer 6.1.1, Spanish version.
2. Activate the New Interface with Tabs like this:
Go to "View" Menu - User Interface - Tabbed. In Spanish it would be: "Ver"> "Interfaz de Usuario"> "En Pestañas".

3. Go to the "Disposition" tab. In Spanish it is: "Disposición" tab.
4. Go to the "Page Size" drop-down list box (in Spanish "Tamaño de Página").
5. Look for "Oficio" option. There is the error. "Oficio" appears with the following dimensions: 21.59 cm X 35.56 cm. These dimensions correspond to the "Legal" page size in these countries. Then it is required to put, there, the term "Legal" instead of "Oficio", and, then add the option "Oficio", in that list, with the following dimensions: 21.59 cm X 33.02 cm.
Comment 3 Albert Acer 2018-10-23 12:30:09 UTC
The best solution would be to match the dimensions of the "Oficio" page size that appear in the route: Menu "Formato" > "Página" > tab "Formato" > drop-down list box ("Formato") > "Oficio", with the dimensions of the page size that appear in the new tabbed interface, under the "Disposición" tab > "Tamaño de Página" > "Officio" tab, because they are different and they do not coincide.

@Adolfo, what do you think ?
Comment 5 Albert Acer 2019-02-12 08:15:45 UTC
This Bug has already been partially solved in versions LO 6.1.5 and LO 6.2, Spanish versions, in the applications Calc, Impress and Draw, but it persists only in WRITER, in the options of the "Page Size" icon, in the new Experimental user interface.
It is very important that you know that now this anomaly only appears in the WRITER application of LO 6.2 and 6.1.5, Spanish version, in the Page Size options, under the new User Interface with tabs, in the Disposition Tab , "Page Size" icon. There appears the size of paper "Oficio" whose correct dimensions must be 21.59 cm X 33.02 cm, but the following dimensions appear 21.59 cm X 35.50, which are incorrect. If you observe the dimensions of the "Oficio" paper going through the path "Format" menu> Option "Page"> Tab "Page", then in "Format" search "Oficio", there the correct dimensions for this type of paper appear . This means that LibreOffice presents, to us the users, a contradiction with the dimensions of the paper size "Oficio" in WRITER because there are specific dimensions through a route while through another route there are other different dimensions for the same size of paper ("Oficio").

MR. ADOLFO JAYME

Dear Albert Acer,
Could you please try to reproduce it with a master build from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ ?
You can install it alongside the standard version.
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the master build

This is already resolved in LO 6.3 and all its maintenance updates.
The paper size defined by you as "Folio" is the right solution and now I can say that it is already solved. Thank you very much.
