Some discussion around visibility of the grid around colors (bug 117348 and bug 85450) as well as shape (bug 120897) aim to improve the situation. Another option would be to have a static grid that does not change the distance of dots depending on the zoom level. 

The implementation should take care of jumping anchors, ie. the position should be usable as anchor and be pixel-perfect at the same time.

Dots are darker now but this request didn't receive much attention.

This enhancement has been in UNCONFIRMED status for a while, moving it to NEW...
