This seems to be an edge case and there is a workaround. Only tested on Windows. In Impress, Save As Template. name: Default category: My Templates set as default: true If there is a Default.otg (i.e. default drawing template named Default) in My Templates category, it will be deleted and overwritten by Default.otp This will also happen in reverse: if a Default.otp, it will be clobbered by a Default.otg. Workaround: use different names (e.g. DefaultDrawing, DefaultPresentation)
Thank you for reporting the bug. it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
Problem still exists in 6.1.5.2 and there are some pretty nasty side effects. 1. You have a file called Default.otp (Impress template) in your My Templates folder 2. Open a new drawing. Change some styles. Then save as template using File...Templates...Save as Template... Save as Default to My Templates. 3. After 2, the Default.otg file will appear in your My Templates folder, and Default.otp will disappear. 4. Here is the nasty side effect: if Default.otp was configured as your default presentation, it has disappeared and you will not be able to create any new presentations. To fix this you will have to specify another OTP file as a default presentation. Most users I know will be completely thrown off by #4.
To be certain the reported issue is not related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your Libreoffice profile ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile ) and re-test?
I removed my user profile and I can reproduce this. Windows running 6.1.5.2. To reproduce 1. Create new Impress document 2. Save as Template with name Default in My Templates. (File...Templates...Save as Template... Type "Default" in Template Name and select My Templates. 3. Look in templates folder. On my install it's located in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\template. You should see a file Default.otp 4. Create new Draw document 5. Save as Template with name Default in My Templates. (File...Templates...Save as Template... Type "Default" in Template Name and select My Templates. You may be asked if you want to overwrite Deafault template. This is the first clue that something is broken. Click yes. 6. Look in templates folder. "Default.otp" has disappeared. It has been replaced by "Default.otg"
You can't confirm your own bugs. Moving it back to UNCONFIRMED until someone else confirms it.
Could you please paste the info from Help - about LibreOffice ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the information has been provided
