Description [REDACTED] 2018-11-09 18:18:15 UTC
Description:
Libreoffice Viewer on Android breaks with lengthier files. I tried to open a DOCX that is long with about 400 pages, but otherwise quite simple (not a large file, barely any images, simple layout, ...). This file not only loads up in the desktop version on slower computers without issues, but editing is almost snappy, even at the top of file where lots of things need to be possibly moved down when you insert/type.

However, on LibreOffice, not only do I look at a white screen for many minutes(!), afterwards, a few rectangles of the first page will pop in, some pixelated, some missing, some swapped, some reverting to black - it looks like a huge mess, and once I scroll down to page two, nothing again.

Scrolling is smooth, just the contents are affected.

Is there some fundamental design issue going on with everything loaded up into one unified scrollable texture or something? (Bad idea even on a desktop GPU for a 400 page document...) Whatever it is, it'd be nice if this could be changed since this makes the viewer useless for non-trivial document lengths.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a lengthier document (300 pages minimum)
2. Scroll down expecting to see contents & text

Actual Results:
Scrolling is smooth, but I either see a white nothingness, black weird rectangles, super pixelated unreadable parts or just a swapped out mess.

Expected Results:
I can see the document properly

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Affected release is 5.2.3.1/01ec8f3 from f-droid, which wasn't listed in the Versions box.

Okay, apparently this is related to the annotations. I tried an unannotated version of the same document and while it didn't exactly load up fast, that one works mostly fine. (Scrolling fast will be a bit behind with the loading, but otherwise it works)

The unannotated version however, loads a page a minute(!) and shows horrible render errors and breakage.

sorry, last sentence was supposed to be: The ANNOTATED version however, loads a page a minute(!) and shows horrible render errors and breakage.

Thank you for reporting the bug.
Could you please try to reproduce it with a master build from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ ?
You can install it alongside the standard version.
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the master build

I re-tested with https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Android-ARM@24-Bytemark-Hosting/2019-01-14_00.28.40/master~2019-01-14_00.28.40_LibreOfficeViewer-strippedUI-debug.apk

1. Document has really excessive long time to load (loading spinner shown for more than 3 minutes, I calculated this by checking how often a music piece looped with a known length that I had still playing in the background)

2. Crashes with Libreoffice Viewer has stopped

So the current build is actually worse than the f-droid one I tested this with, and won't even open it up
