Description: After opening certain DOCX files, the CPU usage of LibreOffice rises to 100% even though the document has loaded already with all its visible content, and the window has no user interaction. The problem is still present in the 2018-11-17 build of 6.2.0.0.alpha1. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the attached test. 2. Wait for it to load. 3. Observe CPU usage in top(1) or equivalent. Actual Results: CPU usage is 100% Expected Results: CPU usage should be negligible having loaded the document without user interaction Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 6.1.3.2 Build ID: 1:6.1.3-1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.18; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: hu-HU (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded
Created attachment 146828 [details] test document that triggers the bug
Further experimentation revealed that 1. saving the DOCX file as ODT 2. closing LibreOffice (no soffice processes remain) 3. starting LibreOffice (new soffice process) 4. opening the converted ODT file (from step 1) results in the same behavior with 100% CPU utilization.
Bug not reproducible in version Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) Build ID: 0f25a3c36f27fd51453b9a9115f236b83c143684 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; VCL: win; TinderBox: Win-x86_64@42, Branch:master, Time: 2018-11-27_20:06:55 Locale: zh-TW (zh_TW); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded but rising to 30% CPU usage
Bug not reproducible but the CPU rise to 2x% in Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) Build ID: 0f25a3c36f27fd51453b9a9115f236b83c143684 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; VCL: win; TinderBox: Win-x86_64@42, Branch:master, Time: 2018-11-27_20:06:55 Locale: zh-TW (zh_TW); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded
This does happen for me, but not all the time. When it does, then the cursor doesn't blink properly either -- and top(1) shows 229,2 for %CPU. But sometimes it just goes down to 0. Strange. :-) I wonder if this is a regression... It would be interesting to see the ODT version can trigger the same in e.g. LO 3.5 or not.
I can't reproduce it in Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 6d250d56ed9b6755a3f8131be39fc0537c3d862c CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: ca-ES (ca_ES.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded
Dear vsza+tdf, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
