The process of adding a border to pages in writer document editor is complex for newcomers to use, requiring multiple steps just to add a simple border, perhaps simplify the process by providing basic border templates or minimize the menu elements & provide a toggle/advanced options button for those who require more options or controls.

For reference, the current guide for adding a simple page border: https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Defining_Borders_for_Pages

Another suggestion is to add basic templates for cover pages in the writer document editor as creating one from scratch will be difficult for beginners to do.

Can you give an example of what you expect? To me, the "Presets" are exactly what you ask for. And consistent with all other places where borders are set.

I feel it would be better to make it easier to set the border if the menu is easier to reach, maybe add it to the sidebar/page section or maybe the toolbar in the UI instead of requiring one to open additional options for the page style as borders are a very commonly used page element

I don't think it's a very common use case (a border around the page?) and it is definitely not a frequently used feature. I wouldn't have added a page deck but nevertheless we could put the border stuff there together with background.
