Thank you for reporting the bug. Might be a Linux version problem. Any ideas about how to debug?
OK, I found a work around. Right click on the triangele icon and select "Selection List", then the menu stay open.
michael, it may be distributiv related problem. What Linux distro do you use and where did you install LibreOffice from (repo of your distro or site of TDF)?
Ubuntu 18.04 (64 bit) new installation with latest updates. Installation from Ubuntu 18.04.1 bootable USB dongle. LO Version: 6.0.6.2. Also present after adding PPA for LibreOffice fresh (http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/ppa/ubuntu). LO Version: 6.1.3.2 Seen on two different computers (desktop and laptop).

Then try repeat your problem
OK, found the root cause: Display zoom set to 200% in Ubuntu Settings under Decvice -> Displays. This due to HiDPI monitors. How can this be corrected? All others with modern HiDPI screens will meet this also.
I have same issue; my system: - Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa (based on Ubuntu 18.04.1) - LibreOffice 6.0.7 - Monitor: Samsung 28", res: 3840 x 2160 Issue appears on Autofilter dropdowns mentioned in bug description, but it also appears for the dropdowns used for filtering Pivot Tables via arrows in the table headings. The workaround for Autofilter dropdowns doesn't work for Pivot tables, making this issue more serious.
NEW per last comment.
Reproduced on OpenSUSE Leap 42.3 libreoffice-calc Version : 6.1.3.2-27.4 libreoffice-base Version : 6.1.3.2-27.4
Same issue on Fedora 29 x86-64 HiDPI (3840x2160).

From: Matijs van Zuijlen <matijs@matijs.net> To: Debian Bug Tracking System <submit@bugs.debian.org> Subject: libreoffice-gtk3: Filter drop-down in Calc closes too soon with Gtk3 rendering Date: Tue, 07 Aug 2018 13:55:29 +0200 Package: libreoffice-gtk3 Version: 1:6.1.0~rc2-2 Severity: normal Dear maintainer, When I have a document with autofilters in Calc, and I click on the button with the little inverted triangle that makes the filter drop-down appear, then as soon as I move my mouse down to actually interact with the drop-down, the drop-down disappears. If I click low enough on the button, the drop-down appears underneath my mouse cursor and I can interact with the filter. If I remove libreoffice-gtk3, a different drop-down appears and the problem does not occur. If instead of libreoffice-gtk3 I install libreoffice-gtk2, the problem also does not occur. Kind regards, Matijs
I'm able to reproduce this in LibreOffice 6.3.0.4 running Kubuntu 19.04. I do have HiDPI monitors.
I can reproduce this on LibreOffice 6.3.0.4 running on KDE Neon 5.16 with a HiDPI touchscreen. For what its worth, the autofilter menu doesn't disappear if the pointer is moved to the menu via touch event after activating the triangle button.
Don't change earlier version to later if there was confirming there
Created attachment 157555 [details] Short video depicting the behaviour I have been seeing this for many years, but being just occasional office user, never bothered to report it. I found this bug, so pretty sure I am seeing the same. And I have been using 4K monitors for many years. Affected version: LibreOffice 6.3.4.2.0 30(Build:2) (this comes from app-office/libreoffice-6.3.4.2 on Gentoo linux with x11-libs/gtk+-3.24.13) I confirm that `SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice` works without issues, I'll make it a permanent solution for the time being.
I've also been seeing this bug for a few years (one of the bugs that forces me to use Google Spreadsheet, even for just manipulating a local file). I can reproduce this on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS libreoffice-calc 6.0.7-0ubuntu0.18.04.10 I'm on a HiDPI display with 200% scaling. Really appreciate the workaround mentioned in Comment 4
me too, debian / kali hidpi (4k) screen, fresh 7.0 alpha, screen scaling 200%, win ver. on similar machine with 225% font scaling unaffected, i suspect a small gap between dropdown button and menu representation, very annoying, additional workarounds: - press <tab> while pointer still on the button, that somehow changes the focus and keeps the menu open, - a fast move down with the mouse (touchpad in my case) mostly 'catches' the menu and keeps it open, - start typing something, the initial focus is in the search field of the menu, menu will be kept open, 'minor' as sufficient workarounds available, tested with: Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha1 Build ID: 6a03b2a54143a9bc0c6d4c7f1... CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: de-DE (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
Tormented by this bug as well. Xubuntu 20.04, 4k screen, 200% scaling. Just updating you: none of the solutions mentioned above work for me. Uninstalling libreoffice-gtk3 makes UI tiny and unusable. Clicking low enough doesn't work. >- press <tab> while pointer still on the button, that somehow changes the focus and keeps the menu open, Doesn't work. Menu disappears. >- a fast move down with the mouse (touchpad in my case) mostly 'catches' the menu and keeps it open, Doesn't work. Menu disappears. >- start typing something, the initial focus is in the search field of the menu, menu will be kept open, Occasionally works, most often doesn't. >'minor' as sufficient workarounds available, They are not available (anymore?).
Dear michael, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
