Description Alexander Kallenbach 2018-12-13 21:31:05 UTC
Description:
As described above. I work in the classroom with my notebook, to which I have connected a beamer. Sometimes I write things down in the Writer and show it via the beamer. I would like to use the fullscreen mode here.
Unfortunately, the fullscreen mode is always displayed on the internal monitor, even if the window with the Writer maximized was previously displayed on the beamer.
Other apps like Firefox, Chromium and Gedit are working fine.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect your notebook to an external monitor
2. Open a LibreOffice-window on the external monitor
3. Use the fullscreen-mode ->

Actual Results:
Fullscreen will appear on internal monitor

Expected Results:
Fullscreen mode should be opened on the monitor the window was on before

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Hello Alexander,
I've tested the scenario with external monitor but couldn't reproduce it.

I've tested it on Ubuntu mate 16.04 the window changed to full screen mode and stayed on the external screen.

Is it possible for you to test it on other system? I doubt it's related to the OS or desktop manager not LibreOffice.

I'm setting the bug status to NEEDINFO, Please set it to UNCONFIRMED again after providing the requested data.

If you have time, please check the latest version from master, you can find an Appimage version here:

a) Provide details of your system including your operating
system and the latest version of LibreOffice that you have
confirmed the bug to be present

Ubuntu 22.04

GNOME 42.1

Wayland

Version: 7.3.3.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.3-0ubuntu0.22.04.1
Calc: threaded

b) Provide easy to reproduce steps – the simpler the better

1. connect an external monitor and choose "Join Displays" in the GNOME displays settings. Make the external monitor the secondary display.

2. open Writer on the external monitor

3. choose "fullscreen" on writer using Ctr-Shft-J

4. see that it goes to fullscreen but relocates to the primary monitor.

c) Provide any test case(s) which will help us confirm the problem

This happens with any writer file. There are no test cases.

d) Provide screenshots of the problem if you think it might help

I'll attached a video of the external monitor.

One thing to note is that after exiting fullscreen, the window returns to the external monitor, but has the dimensions of the primary monitor.

[Flaan4me had changed field to Android for some reason. I'm changing those to LibreOffice + Linux.]

Reproduced by thekswenson in comment 4.

I was able to replicate this with instructions from the reporter. Using fullscreen mode on while LO is open in the primary monitor then opens fullscreen mode on that primary monitor and not the secondary monitor. The same result was produced on my secondary monitor.
Although this matches the reporters expected results, this may be how fullscreen was intended to work rather than fullscreen mode appearing on the other monitor. The workaround is to move the LO windows to the desired monitor then enable fullscreen mode.

Just to note, this result is what the original reporter was expecting, so Dominick did not see the issue (difference so far is Windows vs. Linux). Of course it would be interesting to hear, if Alexander and thekswenson still see this with version 25.2 and a modern Linux desktop.
