Description John 2018-12-19 23:51:10 UTC
This bug was filed from the crash reporting server and is br-94c0f95c-0a22-4f22-8680-617122d7099f.
=========================================

Opened document, and used the nav-bar up button to navigate to previous page, caused Writer to crash.

Previously had problems with the nav-bar being unresponsive and/or delayed response. Occasionally, repeated clicking of the main bar either above or below the slider, or by repeated clicking of the up or down arrow, causes the document to continually scroll indefinately.

Incidentally I, earlier today, left my PC alone with the document open and came back to fund the PC shutdown. There was no indication before or after of any Windows update, but my unsaved changes were lost, along with the recent document history, and my document dictionary of added words emptied.

Novel format, words replaced, pasted into copy of original file.

I have attached a sample file based on the file I was working with, however I now believe it is a problem with Windows.

I have only been able to recreate some of the symptoms by putting Windows into 'sleep mode' first, as though the woken Windows is not firing on all cylinders. When my PC crashed it was by this scenario.

After a fresh reboot, everything works as expected. After one or two sleeps, using the nav-bar, particularly by clicking the bar above or below the slider displays the problem of excessive scrolling. While this has happened before this is the first crash.

Hope this helps

I have been making sure to power down Windows completely between writing sessions, and there is an ongoing problem with the nav-bar, though it is unpredictable when it might happen. However, the triggers for it to happen are few.

Click a scroll arrow and it might stick, still highlighted, with the document scrolling indefinitely. One way out is to Alt-tab in Windows, to switch to another open program and back to Writer.

Clicking the bar either side of the slider too many times may cause it to scroll for far too long but this eventually stops on its own.

John, there is only one crash report for this signature in LO 6.2. [1]. So could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
