Description Andrei LEGKI 2019-03-01 12:52:09 UTC
Description:
Merci

Please report bugs (and feature-requests) in English. Have to translate this first with a web-translater, because I don't understand French.

After translating this it seems to be a feature request for Writer. So I will move the component from "Base" (the database-GUI) to "Writer".

Translation (with deepl.com)

In Microsoft Word there is the possibility to move the text down or up relative to the page in Preview before printing. For example, you can place your cursor at the beginning of the text and move it down relative to the page without adding an additional page. I find this function very very useful but it is not included in the LibreOffice. Wouldn't it be possible to add it to one of the updates?
Thank you.

Andrei, it is possible to add a screencast from MS Word, that shows the feature? This would make it more clear.

Could you please create and attach a screencast showing the steps?
There are various free screencast software available for use, including Camstudio (Windows), Jing (Mac), Simple Screen Recorder (Linux) or screencast-o-matic.com (Web).

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the requested screencast is provided.

Reporter opened another bug 127361 that seems like a duplicate to me.
There he wrote:

In "Word" there is a function called "preview before printing" whereby it is possible to view your text on a page to see its layout in relation to this page. It is also an icon with a magnifying glass but when you go in, if the text is poorly centered, you can go down or up what is very important in some situations. Just place the cursor for example above the text and lower the text with the Enter key. In LibreOffice this valuable function does not exist. Each time you have to click the small icon with the magnifying glass, look at the layout of the text in relation to the page, then close this window and go down or edit the text. Then we must return to the icon with the magnifying glass and see again if the text layout is good. Sometimes we have to do it several times which is a great waste of time.

Could be that these are a duplicate or related to bug 99928.
Andrei, please explain, write detailed Experienced and Expected steps and attach screencast. And confirm if duplicate.

Hello,
on your site you are asking users to help you to improve LibreOffice. And now, for the second time in fact, I have been trying in detail to explain to you what is missing and what can be added to your program to improve it. I am not telling you about а bug and I cannot provide you with a screenshot of what does not exist! I am explaining what is missing in your program. However, if you — professional computer engineers — are not able to understand what it is about, I will withdraw my proposal and will not bother you anymore - this is still useless. You can close my topic.

Tanks for your help,
Andrei

Andrei, first of all: I'm no professional comuputer engeneer, but a volunteer without any any knowledge of LO-code. My requst in comment 2 was about a screencast (or at least a screenshot) from MS Word. You wrote, that the feature already exists in Word. So it should be no problem to give some more informations of something, that already exists. For example I'm not sure, if your proposal is about print preview. In Word 2016 I can't put the cursor at the beginning of the text in print preview. So a screencast would make it more clear.

Hello, Unfortunately, I do not have Word. That is why I work with LibreOffice. However, I will try to ask one of my friends to make the screencast you need and send it to you.
